Clint and I got this adorable little one yesterday after months of searching for just the right kitty. There have been many, many kitties along the way. There was a Teddy, an Anna Banana, a Bahama, and many others that we thought were going to be the perfect furry companion. Then, yesterday, as I told Clint I could only bare to visit a couple places searching, as it can make a girl sad to walk into every shelter hoping they’ll have our kitten to only ever walk out empty handed; we hit up our second shelter and immediately find ourselves loving on the most precious little gray kitten. An hour later we were finally headed home with our kitten. After a little bit of brainstorming we decided on her name, she was originally Sasha- that needed to change ASAP. So now, since I seriously have a thing for names that double as places, we have our Sydney. So after 24 hours, here’s what we know about her so far…
She thinks we’re fascinating.
We think she’s fascinating.
She like cups, and bowls, and plates, and mugs.
She even likes to help us clean them.
And one of our favorite things about her… she matches our couch. We like to pretend like we can’t see her, I think she like’s it too.
Happy Friday everyone. This one is coming to you from Raleigh and guess what… Clint actually took my pictures yesterday. You know what that means? There might actually be hope of Fashion Friday living on once I move to Raleigh, and away from my sister who has been my very loyal photog.
Tonight Clint and I are going to a concert of one of our favorite bands, needtobreathe. (Yes it’s all one word). A band we’ve seen live before, listened to for hours upon hours in the car, and the band that helped give this blog a name.
Something Beautiful may now be my lovely little blog about life, love, fashion, and every awkward and awesome moment in between; but before it was that, it was a song. One of my absolute favorites and probably one of needtobreathe’s most popular.
When I started this blog the first thing I had to do was think of a name. Clint’s suggestion was “Kelly Reeves’ blog”. I pondered on that for a moment and decided I needed to turn to google. I typed in ‘how to name a blog’ and found some pretty awful feedback and a little bit of goodness. I looked at top blogs on all different sites to see what people chose to represent their blogs, and ultimately themselves.
I knew what I wanted my blog to be about- the moments in between the milestones- the idea of letting the small things be the things that make your day. After writing down lots of different adjectives and trying to come up with some sort of play on words I started looking through my iTunes library. I immediately went to my fav. band and zoned in on the song that seemed to describe perfectly what I wanted the blog to be about…
This is my favorite part of coming home from work…
She’s the cutest. And most definitely awesome.
Awkward. -This past weekend my work had Spring Fest. A festival/open house of sorts. We sold hand painted flower pots, had giant inflatable jumping houses, and unfortunately for far too many kids, we had hair spray painting. Whoever decided it was a good idea for me to take on this task had far too much confidence in me. Somewhere out there are many many parents trying desperately to scrub hair spray paint out of their children’s ears, off of their necks, and in a few cases, their eye brows. Apparently I’m not fit for life as a carnival worker.
-Basically, I have psoriasis in my ears. Which means at any given moment I’m walking around with some sort of itchy/ tickling/ half-muted combination. You know when you get one of those intense itches that you just can’t scratch quick enough? Yep, ALL THE TIME. It’s just down right awkward.
Awesome. -I have weekend pants. They are so so so awesome. My Target black yoga pants have never seen a single moment of yoga, but they have seen a whole lot of Saturdays and Sundays.
-This Thursday I’m heading to Raleigh to spend a wonderful long weekend with Clint. We’re going to see one of our favorite bands Thursday night and I am bubbling over with excitement.
-Why has no one ever told me about dry shampoo before?!! Do you all have any idea how aweseome it is?! I’ve ben trying to use a little less heat on my hair lately, to prevent breakage and such… yadda yadda yadda. Well I was exposed to dry shampoo (and dry conditioner) and my hair is very thankful. More volume, more shine, and my waves make it through a full day. A.w.e.s.o.m.e.
-If you’re not watching Smash, you should be.
